ABOUT ME

My journey into the world of game development has been long but rewarding. As I studied my Masters of Teaching I grew increasingly interested in Game Based Learning and it's potential to intrinsically motivate students. Realising that the prospect of making games excited me more than teaching, I was driven to begin a Diploma of Screen and Media (Game Design) at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment.

After graduating, I was fortunate to be offered a position in Mighty Kingdom's Graduate Program, where I have continued to expand upon my skill sets - particularly in narrative design. Excitingly, during this time I became a Women in Games Ambassador and was shortlisted for the University or College Student Achievement or Portfolio Award. I was also priviledged to present at the Technically Games Conference on data-driven narrative design.

I haven't lost my love of learning or my passion for helping others. In fact I have volunteered at the Adelaide Botanical High School as a subject expert, delivered the keynote speech for the SA NYSF orientation day and have been facilitating the Teen Writer's Club for Writer's SA.

My specialities and interests include:

  • Narrative Design and Game Writing

  • Providing detailed user feedback

  • Level Design and Cut Scene Creation

  • Evidence based decision making

  • Implementing particle effects in Unity

TESTIMONIALS

"It was a pleasure working with you and I would gladly invite you to join AIE for any future events."

Matthew Sallis / AIE / Event Officer

"Rebekah has been the AIE volunteer assistant teacher at Adelaide Botanic High School for Semester 2 2020.  She was only contracted to be with us one term, but she was such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable addition to the Entertainment Technology team that we asked her to come back for term 2.  In her role she assisted both students and teachers in solving problems in the modelling program and game engine.  Rebekah also introduced the class to the game development process showing students how to pitch a game, work through various phases of a game build and beta testing.  I have enjoyed working with her, she is a great team player with good ideas and an infectious positive attitude.  Rebekah has become an invaluable part of our team inspiring students towards a future in game development and we look forward to following her career in the game industry."
